The size of my cat

Kisu oli nukkumassa suloisesti sänkyni jalkopäässä ja pitihän se herättää kuvaa varten. Kuten huomaatte, sänkyni vakiovarusteisiin kuuluu talvisin useampi peitto ja päädyssä mukavasti raapimapuu, ettei kisun tarvitse herätessään kauas liikahtaa. Kuvan alanurkan lehti on noin 30 cm, joten tästä voi pikaisesti arvioida kissan pituudeksi 90 cm.

The cat was being cute again on my bed and I just had to wake him up again. As you can see, my bed includes at least two covers in wintertime and the scratching post is also near by. The magazine in lower right corner is about 30 cm (or 1 foot for the readers more used to imperial units) in width so that makes the cat about 90 centimeters long (or 3 feet).

Hetki - Moment

Hetki aikaa, 250 grammaa Vahvaa Pirkkalankaa ja pieni inspiraation jyvänen riittivät. Valmiina siis huivi "Hetki", ohjeen kirjoitan kunhan kokeilen muutamaa asiaa vielä.

Only a moment, 250 grams of quite thick wool and little sprinkle of inspiration was all that it took. I finished "Moment" shawl, I'll write the pattern (at least in finnish) evetually, I just need to test few more things.

I fear no curses

Villapaita miehelleni. Tähän meni aavistuksen vajaa 500 g Novitan Floricaa kaksinkertaisena. Koko on jossain S/M, olisi voinut olla vähän pienempikin. Kirouksia odotellessa menen jatkamaan huiviani että ehtisi hamsterikuussa valmiiksi. Vinkkejä tällaiseen paitaan löytyy raglanohjeesta. Ainoa suoranainen muutos oli kasvattaa V-aukon silmukoiden lisäystahtia.

A sweater for DH. It took about 500 g of Novitas thin 2-ply Florica held double. I think the size is somewhere around S/M, could have been a little smaller. Whilst waiting for the curse to land on me, I'm going to finish of my shawl. Hints for knitting a sweater like this can be found in the raglan pattern. Only real and large change I made was to change the addition of stitches in the v-neck to every right side row instead of every fourth row. Luckily I did it, since otherwise you would have been able to see his belly button in this.

Woolista villaan

Nämä sukat piti blogata jo vuosi sitten. Silloinkin olisin blogannut ne jo toistamiseen, sillä kerran blogasin ne vanhempaan blogiini. Näissä on lankana Novitan Wool - se merinoinen versio. Sukat ovat melkein kaksi vuotta vanhat ja alunperin tein ne harjoitellakseni tiimalasikantapäätä, kuvittelin etteivät kestäisi kovin pitkään. Väri oli kamala harmahtavanbeigehtävä, joten vuoden käytettyäni koolaidasin ne. Nyt on taas melkein vuosi takana käyttöä, ulkokengissäkin ja konepesuja 40-60 asteessa. Milloinkohan nämä kuluvat puhki?

(This is a rant about the quality of Wool today. These socks are made of an older lot of the yarn that was merino wool. They are now two years old and doing great, no holes or anything. I wonder when they'll wear out, I only made them to practice the short-row-heel.)

Dragon, this is your fate

Mittens of a dragonslayer. The name comes from a theme I've made some knits on for the next Ulla.

Highlander IV

Pattern: Scottische highlander kilt hose (or something like it, I don't feel like going to my bookshelf in this freezing coldness)
Yarn: Schoeller-Stahl Fortissima socka, approximately 180 grams in casual grey
Other: Like 200 000 stitches in them, they are 20 cm longer in the leg than in the book "Folk socks"

Nämä ovat pitkään kulkeneet nimellä Highlander muistiinpanoissani. Onkin nyt sellainen olo että "There can be only one ... pair", ei heti tee mieli neuloa toisia. Olenkin jo houkutellut näiden vastaanottajaa poseeraamaan kiltissä miekkoineen kunhan on lämpimämpää.

These have been called "Highlanders" quite a while in my notes. I'm right now feeling very much like "There can be only one ... pair" about them. I don't feel like knitting another pair, these took almost a year to complete. I've tried to make the recipient to pose with these in kilt and holding a sword at some warmer time in the future.


Ostin myös pienen Marimekon kukkaron puhelimelleni, tuohon mahtuu mukaan ne kuulokkeetkin, jotka eivät siihen neulomaani pussukkaan mahdu. Näkee sitten kummasta pidän enemmän, pari päivää neulottu pussukka on jo palvellut ihan hyvin.

I also got this little Marimekko purse for my phone, the knitted bag I made for it doesn't hold the earphones. I'll see which one I like better, I've used the knitted one a few days already.

Kamala suttura

Lankahamsterikuu on alkanut melkoisen vauhdikkaasti. Olen Kristelin apuemäntänä Täystuhoissa, joten minulla on hyvä syy miksen ole saanut mitään valmiiksi. Vähemmän hyvä syy käy ilmi ylläolevasta kuvasta. Etureunassa vasemmalla on huivi, etureunassa kirjavana pussukka sen selittelle, miksi tämä kuva on näin suttuinen (puhelin), niiden takana kahdet sukat ja mallitilkku paitaan. Ei huvita ja sitten tulos on tämän näköistä.

I've mostly been starting new knits (as you can a scarf, a pouch for the reason the pic is so smutty, two pairs of socks and a small swatch for a shirt). I don't feel like knitting and this is the result.

Haahuilua

Mikään ei ole paljon söpömpää kuin nukkuva kissa.

I cannot think many things cuter than a sleeping cat.
