Sockapaloozing

(in English only this time) I've bought some Colinette Jitterbug over the last few weeks. From left these are Velvet leaf, Tuscany and Gaugin. I love them all, but one of them has to end up as a pair of socks for my sockapalooza pal. It seems that she likes green (spied her blog and data in the database) so the two on the left would be the options this time, the gorgeous Gaugin is all mine. Velvet leaf is almost solid really beautiful green I specially ordered for her socks, but the Tuscany is a possibility as well. It is a pale greenish yarn with specs of colour and very Colinette. What do you think? Should I go with my feelings and choose the pure green one and just knit the socks as I imagined them? I've been checking out the "Merino lace socks" (how inventive name for a pair of socks...) in Favorite Socks for this pair since they are knit in Koigu, which seems to me very similar to Jitterbug.

I think the semi-solid would look great, so I'd say just go with it.

The semi solid would allow some lacy work, whereas the other would do the work for you! What sort of socks do you think she would want? Personally, I like the greeeen.

ooohhh---the merino lace socks are beautiful and would look great in the semi-solid. I love all other colors as well...so hard to choose just one! I have resisted buying colinette so far--but their colorways always look so stunning it's hard for me to walk away from it. :)

I would follow your instinct and choose Velvet leaf. It's a safer choice if she likes green and probably gives you more freedom with the pattern, plus I personally think it's a lovely colour. I've got quite a few of those Velvet semi-solids on my "must buy" list as well...

My vote would be for the Velvet Leaf as well; that pattern would go really well with a variegated yarn like that. (Plus, as someone who loves earthy colors, that green is just gorgeous!)

Thank you for your reassurance on my colour choice. What was troubling me that the semi-solid yarn isn't very "interesting", just plain beautiful. But I think it will suffice just fine, since this is about a good pair of socks rather than finding the most extravagant yarn and pattern.
